Kenya Kitchen of Hope

At our Hope Academy in Kawangware, Kenya, 400 children gather each day to receive a meal prepared in a kitchen that’s now over 20 years old.

This kitchen was built when the need was smaller — before the lines got longer, before the stove ran every hour of the day, and before the Hope Academy became the heartbeat of the community.

For many of these children, this is their only meal of the day. That’s not exaggeration. It’s reality.

When you’re hungry, it’s hard to focus. When your stomach’s growling, it’s hard to learn. But when you’re fed, when someone cares enough to serve you — you don’t just eat. You feel seen.

“Learning doesn’t start until a child is fed.”

That’s something our team says often. And it’s true.

This isn’t about upgrading kitchen equipment. It’s about building a space that reflects the worth of the children we serve.

We’re not cutting corners. We’re building something beautiful — because that’s what these kids deserve.

The new kitchen will include:

• A redesigned layout for efficiency and safety
• Commercial refrigeration and freezer systems
• Industrial prep tables and cookware
• Improved ventilation and hygiene stations
• Fire safety equipment and training
