It Started With One Child
What happens when a church keeps showing up
This past Sunday, we gathered with one of our partner churches for what they called Hope Sunday. There were baptisms. Lives being made new. Anthony Naimo shared honestly about his health and why this mission still matters to him. Our president, Kirk Nowery, opened the Word and pointed people back to the heart behind it all.
But what stood out most was not just what happened in one service. It was the story behind it.
Years of showing up. Years of saying yes. Years of choosing not to walk away.
Kirk said something that stayed with us. The greatest distance is often not across a room, but from our head to our heart. That is where real partnership begins. Not when people hear about a need, but when they let it move them enough to respond.
That is how this partnership has worked. It started with one child. One yes. One step of obedience. And over time, that kind of faithfulness has helped more children be known, cared for, and given a future through Hope Partners.
Kirk also reminded the church of something that has shaped this mission from the beginning: we have never turned a child away. The next child is the one in front of us.
This is how it begins for most people.
One child.
One decision.
And what happens next depends on whether someone stays.
Child sponsorship is how that story continues.
It’s how a child is known, cared for, and given a real future.
You can start with one child.
This is one story. It doesn’t have to be the only one.
