A message for the Chayah family

The video you are about to watch tells a story many of you already know. It is the story of how God began something beautiful in Kakira, Uganda through a barefoot girl with a simple prayer. What started as one act of compassion became a home, a school, a church, and a family. And each of you helped build it.

But there is more to say before you press play.

Why this moment matters

For thirteen years, Chayah has been a place where children are protected, educated, and loved.

You helped make that possible.
You prayed.
You gave. You stayed.

And now something new has begun. The heart remains the same, but the capacity for impact grows stronger in this next chapter.

Chayah is now part of the ministry of Hope Partners International, where it will continue as Hope Center Uganda. The name may grow over time, yet the story you helped write continues with the same purpose and the same children you love.

How we arrived here

At our gathering in September, Jodi Plum shared what God had been doing in her heart. Many of you were there. You heard her speak with peace, gratitude, and clarity. Over sixty supporters filled that her backyard, and afterward she sent a message to the entire Chayah community. She wanted you to hear the same reassurance she carried.

What happens to Chayah’s mission when the founding team can no longer carry it alone? This page answers that question.

"We wanted to be sure nothing would compromise anything that is happening at Chayah, and we found that in Hope Partners."

Jodi Plum, Founding Board Member

What is changing

To protect the long-term health of the children, the staff, and the ministry in Jinja, Chayah is now operating within the Hope Partners International family.

Here is what that means:

  • Financial and administrative support will run through Hope Partners.
  • Online giving and reporting will move to our secure platform.
  • Our leadership team will work with Director Peter to strengthen the home, the school, and the church.

The structure is new. The mission is not.

What is not changing

This is important. Nothing about the heart of Chayah is shifting.

Here is what that means:

  • The ministry remains centered on Jesus.
  • The children will continue receiving the same care you have supported.
  • Every gift designated for Chayah will still go directly and only to Uganda.
  • The local team stays in place.
  • The culture of family that shaped these children will be protected.

Chayah continues. The mission continues. The story continues.

Why Hope Partners

Many of you heard Kirk Nowery, President of Hope Partners, share that night. He spoke about the children he has met around the world and the call to step into places of extreme need. Hope Partners exists to rescue children, restore their lives, and release them into their God-given purpose.

Hope Partners now serves twelve Hope Centers around the world. Uganda becomes the twelfth. Each center operates with the same commitment: children receive love, safety, education, discipleship, and a future that is real.

Kirk shared his heart for Uganda that night. He spoke about the call to serve the next child and the trust he places in the Holy Spirit to guide every step forward.

Your recurring monthly support

If you have an existing recurring gift, our team will reach out and help you move it to Hope Partners International. This allows for:

  • Consistent monthly support for the children
  • Accurate receipting and reporting for you
  • Healthy stewardship for the work in Uganda

The process is simple. A team member will walk with you step by step.

Why your support still matters

Every child who calls Chayah home has a story. Some were rescued from violence. Some were abandoned. Some carried burdens no child should ever carry.

What future would they have today if people like you had not stepped forward?

Your support has shaped their lives. Your support will shape the lives of the next children God brings through the doors.

The next chapter

This partnership protects the legacy of what God began through Jodi, Kristen, and the entire Chayah family. It also expands the reach of what is possible in Uganda.

We invite you to stay with us as the story grows. We invite you to continue praying, giving, and standing with these children.

Thank you for carrying the mission this far. We are grateful for you. We look forward to walking with you in the days ahead.
